| Aamir Khan’s Taare Zameen Par had been declared for 2008 Oscar Awards Posted: 06 May 2010 11:32 PM PDT Taare Zameen Par, one of the most successful movies of 2007, has been declared to be India's official entry in the upcoming Oscar Awards. On September 20, 2008, Sunil Darshan, chairman, Film Federation of India (FFI), announced the movie. Other members include: Bijon Das Gupta, Aruna Raje, Ravi Kotharakara, H M Ramachandran, Sudarshan Rao, Mahesh Kothare, Jagdish Sharma, B R Ishara and Manoj Chaturvedi.
Taare Zameen Par is actor Aamir Khan's first movie as a director. After hearing the news, he said:
Nine Indian movies were chosen for the Oscar nomination including six Hindi movies, two Marathi movies, and one Telugu movie. They are: Taare Zameen Par, Jodhaa Akbar, A Wednesday, Mumbai Meri Jaan, Rock On, Black & White, Tingya, Valu, and Gamayam. Sunil Darshan said that the reason behind choosing Taare Zameen Par was its universal appeal. The juries unanimously voted the movie. Earlier, in 2001 and 2006, two movies starring Aamir Khan were submitted to the Oscar; Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India and Rang De Basanti.

The rising economy coupled with growing number of Indian people living in abroad, have helped a lot in popularizing Indian movies around the world. Only few years ago, being an actor and actress was not considered something respectable in India. Now, things have changed a lot. Every year, hundreds and thousands of people are coming to Mumbai to get into the movie industry. Modeling is now considered to be a stepping stone into the movie industry. Over the years, we have seen many famous actors and actresses coming to Bollywood who started as models. This year, there are three such new faces in Bollywood who started their career as models: Sheetal Menon, Shaurya Chauhan, and Sonal Chauhan. Sheetal Menon has been in the modeling circuit for quite some time. Like Shaurya Chauhan, Sheetal Menon also came to lime light after modeling for the famous Kingfisher Swimwear Calendar. So far, Sheetal Menon did one movie in 2008, Bhram. The movie did not do very good at box office but Sheetal Menon is getting lots of offers. Shaurya Chauhan also got her big break after appearing in Kingfisher Swimwear Calendar. Till now, she did not have any solo movies to her career. In 2005, she appeared in Salman Khan starrer, Kyon Ki. Last year, she worked in Manoj Tyagi's directorial debut, Mumbai Salsa. This year, she appeared with Nana Patekar in Horn Ok Pleassss. Shaurya Chauhan did not receive any training in acting. She always wanted to be in the movies. Shaurya Chauhan has no problems doing item numbers and intimate scenes. Before coming to movies, Sonal Chauhan appeared in various beauty contests. She won the Miss World Tourism 2005. This year, Sonal Chauhan made her debut with Jannat. The movie deals with cricket and gambling. |

| After ‘Golmaal Returns,’ Rohit Shetty may direct the sequel of ‘Kya Kool Hai Hum’ Posted: 06 May 2010 05:11 AM PDT Golmaal and Golmaal Returns director Rohit Shetty is going to direct Balaji's next movie, the sequel of Kya Kool Hai Hum. Rumor spread out that work of the movie will start early next year but nothing has been done in black and white.
Tusshar Kapoor, one of the two male leads of Kya Kool Hai Hum, said that even before Golmaal, Balaji signed up Rohit Shetty for a movie. At that time, Rohit Shetty was busy with Golmaal. Sangeeth Sivan directed Kya Kool Hai Hum but now he is planning to work on thriller movies. Hence, Balaji is now trying to rope in Rohit Shetty for the sequel of Kya Kool Hai Hum. About his camaraderie with Rohit Shetty, Tusshar Kapoor said:
Rohit Shetty also confirmed the news and said that if he had liked the script, then he would direct the sequel.
Kyaa Kool Hai Hum, the hit comedy movie of 2005, starred Tusshar Kapoor, Ritesh Deshmukh, Isha Koppikar, and Neha Dhupia. In the sequel, new actresses will be selected. Ritesh Deshmukh, the other male actor also has not been finalized.
