Charles Sobhraj verdict today on July 14, 2010. Charles Sobhraj bikini killer allegedly committed at least 12 murders. The Supreme Court of Nepal will decide today on an appeal filed by Charles Sobhraj, the bikini killer, against a district court s verdict sentencing him to life imprisonment for the murder of American backpacker Connie Jo Bronzich in 1975. As his sensational seven-year battle against a three-decade-old murder conviction draws closer, Charles Sobhraj, once dubbed confidently that there is no evidence against me, the 66-year-old son of a Parsi clothes merchant and Vietnamese mother told IANS. 'Had they had a shred of evidence, the Supreme Court would have convicted me years ago.'

Sobhraj had appealed against the district court’s verdict in 2006 , calling it unfair and accusing the judges of racism while handing out the sentence.

Hatchand Bhaonani Gurumukh Charles Sobhraj (born April 6, 1944), better known as Charles Sobhraj, is a French serial killer of Indian and Vietnamese  origin, who preyed on Western tourists throughout Southeast Asia during the 1970s. Nicknamed “the Serpent” and “the Bikini killer” for his skill at deception and evasion, he allegedly committed at least 12 murders. He was convicted and jailed in India from 1976 to 1997, but managed to live a life of leisure even in prison. After his release, he retired as a celebrity  in Paris, he unexpectedly returned to Nepal, where he was arrested, tried and sentenced to life imprisonment on August 12, 2004.

If released, Sobhraj could walk out of prison to freedom in Paris, the country of his residence. Charles Sobhraj has already begun planning his reunion with his daughter, a quick wedding and is looking forward to a life of limelight in books and TV shows.

It is now four years since Sobhraj, presently a respectable French businessman dabbling in films, has been fighting a 20-year jail sentence slapped on him in 2004 by a Kathmandu district court judge, who has now been accused of being biased and sloppy.

Supreme Court judges Ram Prasad Shah and Gauri Dhakal, who last year began hearing Sobhraj's appeal against the life sentence, June 23 wrapped up nearly eight months of arguments by the state as well as Sobhraj's formidable team of lawyers. The judges then announced they would deliver the verdict July 14.

'My case went through the district and the appellate courts and nowhere could police provide any evidence,' Sobhraj said. 'Incredibly, they never even called a single witness.'

The murder case, despite its antiquity, has been one of the most sensational Nepal has ever witnessed.

In December 1975, two badly charred bodies were found in different parts of Kathmandu valley.

The body of the woman, who was first stabbed to death, was identified as that of Connie Jo Bronzich, an American backpacker with an unsavoury reputation of taking drugs and being involved with other addicts.

The second body, that of a male, could not be identified. Police conjectured it could have been that of a Canadian tourist, Laurent Armand Carriere, who had shacked up with Bronzich in Kathmandu.

'The manager of the budget hotel where Bronzich stayed said police suspected Carriere had killed Bronzich and fled,' Sobhraj said. 'That is also mentioned in the police case file. But after I was arrested in India, someone in Nepal changed his mind and decided to implicate me.'

Sobhraj says he never came to Nepal before 2003, when he arrived as a bona fide entrepreneur to explore various ventures, ranging from making documentaries for his Paris-based Gentleman Films company to starting a mineral water business.

Tathagat Avatar Tulsi : Dr. Tathagat Avatar Tulsi youngest IIT Professor at the age of 22. Dr. Tathagat Avtar Tulsi born 9 September 1987 in Patna and is an Indian physicist. Tathagat Avatar Tulsi is a most well known as a child prodigy and has been completed high school at the age of nine, earned a B.Sc. at the age of ten and a M.Sc. at the age of twelve. In August 2009, he got his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Science at the age of 21.

Tathagat Avatar Tulsi biography:

He received wide public attention in 2001, when he was shortlisted by the Indian Department of Science and Technology (DST) to participate in a Nobel laureates conference in Germany. Later, the DST officials claimed that it was a mistake to shortlist him, and that he was a "fake prodigy". Following the controversy, Tulsi suffered from depression, which according to him, cost him a Ph.D. seat at IIT. He decided to "fight back" by earning a Ph.D. and gaining recognition as a scientist.

Tathagat Avatar Tulsi completing his phd, Tulsi was admitted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), where he wrote a 33-page long Ph.D. thesis on "Generalizations of the Quantum Search Algorithm". He has the special distinction of being one of the world's youngest scientists. At the age of 17, he co-authored a research manuscript ("A New Algorithm for Fixed-point Quantum Search") with Lov Grover, the inventor of a quantum search algorithm that goes by his name.

Dr. Tulasi joined IIT Bombay in July 2010 as a faculty member in the Physics department. With this he became the youngest faculty member ever at IIT Bombay.

Tulsi is listed as one of the most gifted Asian youngsters by TIME magazine, mentioned as “Superteen” by SCIENCE, “Physics Prodigy” by The TIMES, “Master Mind” by The WEEK and listed by OUTLOOK  as one of the smartest Indian youngsters. Tathagat Avatar Tulsi participated in the Stock Exchange of Visions project of Fabrica, Benetton’s research centre in 2007. He was invited by Luciano Benetton for a dinner in honor of Al Gore on Jun. 14, 2007 in Milano, Italy. Tathagat’s story was showcased by National Geographic Channel in the program My Brilliant Brain. The episode named “India’s Geniuses” was aired on 13 Dec. 07 and was hosted by Bollywood actress Konkona Sen Sharma.

Tulsi claims to have had deep spiritual experiences “beyond what is normal”, and says that he has ‘special’ abilities.
