The Periyar University university was certified by NAAC. It was established in 1997, under the act of Tamil Nadu Government. The university was named after a great social reformer, ‘Thanthai Periyar’. The university has the departments for Commerce, Geology and Mathematics. It also provides the Post Graduation courses.
