| Chhath Puja The Four Days Ritual Festival Posted: 11 Nov 2010 08:06 AM PST Chhath puja the main festival of Bihar state and celebrated with bottomless religious passion across Bihar, Jharkhand, and other parts of Uttar Pradesh, the four-day Chhath Puja commenced on Wednesday evening. This favorable day devoted to God Sun. The vital rituals include fasting and on river bank, the worship of God Sun (Surya). After the 6th day of Diwali festival Chhath puja get started. On this point in time married women and men keeps fast to oblige the God Sun. The very 1st day of Chhat is recognized as Nahai Khai and followers take bath in River Ganges. The 2nd day is known as Kharna. Fast or Upvaas starts on the 2nd day and this is referred as Kharna. On the 3rd day in the evening, followers offer 'argh' to setting sun with 'soop' at a pond or river bank. On the 4th day morning, followers repeat the rituals performed on the 3rd day evening for rising sun and this is known as Chhat Sooryodaya Argh. Source- Freakygossip |
