Taiwan's most popular singing competition, 'One Million Star', was won by a Malaysian-based singer by the name of Jess Lee. The 23 year-old claimed the title along with a contract with Warner Music and NT $1 million.

"I’m very happy and thankful. Thank you for all your support in order for me to be on his stage. I thank my parents and my singing teacher of 14 years. I never thought that you all will come to support me,” Lee said. Lee swept the competition with 29.2 marks out of 30.

The singer was overwhelmed on her win and even thanked her Malaysian supporters in Malay. She also promised her supporters to perform her best in the Malaysia Boleh spirit.

Lee, in the very first round, impressed the judges by singing the song 'Coming Home' and managed to get full marks. After Lee, the second place was claimed by China's Sun Xiaoliang, while Usay Wu Si Ai from Taiwan managed to grab the third spot.

Jay Chou starrer ‘The Green Hornet’ does exceptionally well in Taiwan

Taiwanese singer Jay Chou's much awaited film 'The Green Hornet' has hit theatres. As expected, this movie is doing exceptionally well in Taiwan, which is also the star's native place.

Reports state that the movie earned NT $ 4.1 billion since its release across the world. In Taiwan alone, it earned NT $ 35 million, after it was released.

The actor broke his own record of NT $ 29 million in the year 2006, when his movie 'Curse of the Golden Flower' was released. The Green Hornet is Jay's first Hollywood movie, where he worked hard to remember his dialogues.

Jay is playing the role of ‘Kato’ in the movie and the audience is more interested in the actor's English lines. According to sources, during the shoot, Jay had forgotten his lines and spoke in Chinese fluently. Later the director felt that the dialogue seemed natural and decided not to edit the section. The pirated version of the movie is also circulating, but Jay's friend —  through a micro blogging site —  appealed the audience to watch the movie in theatres.
