Ramalinga Raju got bail from Andhra Pradesh High Court in Satyam Scam Case today on August 18, 2010 who was accused in multi-crore Satyam Computers accounting scam. Ramalinga Raju has now been admitted to Hyderabad’s Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) citing health grounds as Harin P Raval, Additional Solicitor General, who argued the case on behalf of the CBI, had filed an application before the court requesting it to form a special team of doctors to look in to the health condition of Raju who is avoiding the court proceedings citing health grounds since September last.

Arguing against the bail petition, Raval said the petition is not maintainable, as the Supreme Court while dismissing the bail plea filed by the petitioner earlier in March observed that the application can be renewed after some time. He had said the Apex Court did not specify that the petitioner should approach the high court at a later date for bail.

On July 20, Andhra Pradesh High Court granted bail to five accused including Raju’s bother B Rama Raju and former CFO of Satyam Computers Vadlamani Srinivas in multi-crore Satyam Computers scam. Earlier on July 23, a local court had adjourned the case of examination of Raju through a questionnaire and nine other accused in connection with the scam to July 26. Except Ramalinga Raju, remaining nine accused in the case had been given bails from various courts on different occasions. Raju, resigned as Satyam Computer Services Ltd. Chairman after being charged for his role in a Rs 7,100 crore financial scam. (ANI)

Gulzar is celebrating his BirthDay today as he was born on 18 August 1936. Sampooran Singh Kalra better known by his pen name Gulzar who is an Indian poet, lyricist & director. Gulzar primarily writes in Hindi-Urdu, but has also written in Punjabi, several dialects of Hindi such as Braj Bhasha, Khadiboli, Haryanvi and Marwari.

Gulzar was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2004 for his contribution to the arts, and the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2002. He has also won a number of National Film Awards and Filmfare Awards in various categories. In 2009, he won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for “Jai Ho” in the film Slumdog Millionaire (2008). On 31 January 2010, the same song won him a Grammy Award in the category of Best Song Written For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media.

As a lyricist, Gulzar is best known for his association with the music directors Rahul Dev Burman, A. R. Rahman and Vishal Bhardwaj, and has also worked with other leading Hindi movie music directors including Sachin Dev Burman, Salil Chowdhury, Hemant Kumar, Madan Mohan, Shankar Ehsaan Loy and Anu Malik.

Gulzar Early life

Gulzar was born in a Kalra Arora Sikh family, to Makhan Singh Kalra and Sujan Kaur, in Dina, Jhelum District, India, in what is now Pakistan. Before becoming an established writer, Sampooran worked as a car mechanic in a garage.He took the pen name Gulzar Deenvi after becoming an author.
