Samsung the world’s biggest TV maker has announced its plans for its range of 3D capable HDTV’s on Tuesday.

The company’s first 3D TV, the UNC7000 series, is currently going for around $2,350 at Amazon for the 46-inch model.

The UNC8000 with ‘precision dimming’ is one of the most intriguing new models detailed by Samsung. The larger 55-inch 3D TV costs about $3,000 at Amazon while the 40-incher is being listed by online retailers at about $1,800.

To watch 3D on your new 3D TV you’ll also need a compatible Blu-ray player, 3D glasses and, a Full HD 3D Blu-ray. These 3D TV’s will be available across all technologies: plasma and LCD.

LG, Sony and Vizio are other brands that have announced 3D TV’s of their own. While LG is expected to ship its first 3D TV and Blu-Ray in mid-may, Vizio’s lineup will arrive in August and Sony is planning is a major 3D product launch in June.

In order to get the customers in the upcoming holiday shopping season in Japan, Microsoft is going to offer price cuts over its Xbox 360 products.

In a media event held in Tokyo, Microsoft announced to cut down 30% of its Xbox 360 retail prices. In this process, the company will be able to compete with its Japanese rivals Nintendo and Sony. The new price has been introduced from September 1, 2008.

Under this new pricing, currently, Japanese gamers will be able to buy the introductory level Xbox 360 Arcade model at a rate of 19,800 yen ($183). This is much less compared to Nintendo Wii or PlayStation 3.

Market analysts are already saying that by going below $200 Xbox 360 has become an attractive offer to the consumers and if Microsoft goes below the current price, then the product is open to the mass market.

On the other hand, Microsoft’s Japan branch announced that the high end model such as Xbox 360 with 120 GB hard drive will be sold at 39,800 yen ($368). The company is also planning to launch a new model with 60 GB drive which will be priced $275 or 29800 yen.
