  • TBM Consulting Group Inc. introduces lean energy practice in India

    Posted: 22 Jun 2010 06:08 PM PDT

TBM Consulting Group Inc., a reputed business performance improvement firm has launched lean energy practice in India. While talking about lean energy practices, Anand Sharma, president and CEO, TBM Consulting Group Inc, said that lean energy practices are different from what energy audit companies do. The audit companies reduce cost by rescheduling energy intensive production processes to those times of the day when power utilities charge lower rates and the manufacturer has to pay the company a percentage of the energy expense saved. The main drawback of this process is that it can give rise to manipulations.

On the other hand, the lean energy practice guarantees reduction in absolute terms-units, kiloliters, units and so on and the client will pay a fixed fee. The lean energy practice also enables the firms to take cost saving measures on their own without the intervention of any consultant.

There are numerous causes behind energy waste, improper machine conditions, non-standardised work norms, excessive inventories, human behavior etc. Lean energy practices go beyond total productive maintenance (TPM). A well maintained machine will function at optimum efficiency.

With rising cost of fuel and green house effect, it has become necessary for companies to take various measures that will ensure low energy usage and reduce energy wastage. For this reason, more and more Indian companies are adopting lean energy practice.
