Koran burning or Quran burning may incite radicals to attack Americans

Pastor Jones’ insurance for his church has been cancelled and the bank that holds the church mortgage has just called the rest of the balance due immediately. It looks like there are a lot of American institutions that just do not support free speech.

The Rev. Terry Jones has planned a Burn a Koran Day for this Saturday, the ninth anniversary of the radical Islamic attack on America. Besides over 100 death threats against Terry, there have been threats of violence and death to American Christians from all over the world, including threats within our own country.

In 2009, the United States military was ordered to burn a lot of bibles printed in Pashto and Dari (the two primary languages in Afghanistan) when Al Jazeera showed a group prayer service at a military base and wrongly suggested that the troops were being instructed to evangelize Afghans. No world-wide protests, no death threats and not much coverage in the media were seen.

I know a Christian who was in the armed forces in Afghanistan. He did have Bibles printed in the two languages. He did hand them out to Afghans.

Surprisingly He handed the Bibles only when asked by Afghan people! Apparently, there is a great movement among the people of Afghanistan toward Christianity, despite the death threats by radical Islamic factions.

A lot of Afghan people want to know more about Jesus! The radical Muslims just want to literally kill this movement.

The threats even caused the Dove World Outreach Center's web site to be shut down for violating the terms of service of their Internet service provider. Terry's other web site Islamisofthedevil.com has also been shut down.

As an American, Terry Jones has the First Amendment right to burn the Koran, make cartoon drawings of Mohammed with a bomb hat and put out the flames with yellow liquid, burn the American Flag or make a statue of Jesus out of elephant dung. As a Christian, burning a bunch of Korans is probably not the smartest thing to do.

I'm sure you remember the cartoon pictures of Mohammed that caused world-wide death threats. You may remember the "artwork" pieces of Jesus made out of elephant dung or the crucifix with Jesus in a jar of urine that were applauded in the art world with no world-wide death threats from the Christian side, or any side for that matter. And the museums' web sites posted the pictures without reprisal.

Pastor Terry Jones calls off Quran burning

Pastor Terry Jones has called off the burning of the Quran he had scheduled for 9/11, and is now asking other organizations to abstain from these actions as well. Word is that the action is a part of an agreement as to where the 9/11 Mosque will be built.

It is impossible to say at this time what the full reasons are for the change of heart on the part of Pastor Terry Jones. It is also hard to say if the change is in time, or if the damage has already been done and will put Americans in peril.

Truth For America’s Youth
reports, First it was Pastor Terry Jones, from a church in Gainesville, Fla., called Dove World Outreach Center, a 50-member Christian church, who set 9/11 as the date to burn Koran books. Then a radical Muslim activist from the U.K., called on Muslims worldwide to a “burn the stars and strips day” in response to Pastor Jones’ burning the Koran attempt. Read more…

The WBBM Blog
tells us that, Pastor Terry Jones said Thursday that he decided to cancel his protest because the leader of a planned Islamic Center near ground zero has agreed to move its controversial location. The agreement couldn’t be immediately confirmed. Read more…

The WAPTG Blog
says, “We are, of course, now against any other group burning Qurans,” Jones said during the news conference. We would right now ask no one to burn Qurans. We are absolutely strong on that. It is not the time to do it.” Read more…
