American socialite alleges hotel staff for theft of diamond ring

Hotel Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore, seems to be in soup as an American socialite lost her 6.41 carat diamond ring. Anne Hendricks Bass has sued the Hotel for her loss.

Anne has claimed that, her ring costs S$280,000, which is equivalent to a 3 room HDB flat. However the Hotel has said that, the ring isn't worth that much. Anne, a resident of Texas said that, she had purchased the ring from the famous jewellery shop JAR's.

Ms Anne when appeared in the High Court said that, the Hotel staff had stolen the ring in 2009, when she had come as a guest. The trials are expected to last till Thursday.

However the Lawyer representing Hotel Shangri-La, Anparasan Kamachi, said that, she claimed on the hotel as her claim in the insurance company was rejected. Ms Anne disagreed to the statement. While the hearing continues on Wednesday, a gemologist will be called to verify the value of the ring.

Andy Lau’s make over for the movie Shaolin

Actor Andy Lau for his latest film Shaolin had to go through a makeover for his character in the movie. The actor had to shave his hair for the role of a warlord who turns in to a monk.

Initially director Benny Chan thought that, Lau could manage with the help of make up. But later, Lau decided to shave it off to get the feel of the character and also the originality of the role could also be maintained.

“It was nothing, I still look really handsome when I’m bald,” Lau said. With intense action sequences in the movie, the actor had to match up with martial arts experts like Wu Jin and Yan Neng.

“I was never worried. In my very first fight scene, I already worked with Jackie Chan and Yuen Biao," Lau explained. The actor added that, his biggest challenge in the movie was to show the audience the character of Hou Jie and not Andy Lau.
