Music maestro A R Rahman is again working on the anthem song of Common Wealth Game (CWG). The earlier official song composed by Rehman received disapproval from many sections.

The Oscar award winner had launched the theme song previous month at a glittering ceremony in Gurgaon, which was attended by the Delhi Chief Minister, Sheila Dixit, her Haryana counter part, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Suresh Kalmadi.

But soon after the launch the response to the song was not encouraging. Fans and committee members felt that it was no where to the 'Waka Waka' the anthem of FIFA 2010, done by Shakira.

"This song has fallen short of expectations. We had expected a better anthem for the Games from a composer of Rahman's status", said Executive board member, V K Malhotra.

Now the great Bollywood and internationally acclaimed composer is working on the song again to make it go well and gel with the spirit of India and the game.

India No.1 In Maternity Mortality

Posted: 16 Sep 2010 02:15 AM PDT

World Health Organization (WHO) released a report on Wednesday which claimed that India is the land of mother killer.

Most maternal deaths happen in India than anywhere in the world. In 2008, atleast 63,000 such deaths took place in India.

The report has punctured all the tall claims by the Indian Government regarding the health care.

According to the WHO report, India is worst than  Nigeria (50,000 maternal deaths in 2008), Congo (19,000), Afghanistan (18,000), Ethiopia (14,000), Pakistan (14,000), Tanzania (14,000), Bangladesh (12,000), Indonesia (10,000), Sudan (9,700) and Kenya (7,900).

The above mentioned countries accounted for 65% of maternal deaths across the world, with India contributing the most.

The officials from the health ministry said that the figure is stale and old; the fresh data will definitely present a better picture.

Though in India the maternal mortality ratio (MMR) decreased from 570 deaths to 230 per 1, 00,000 live births in 2008, the change in percentage was not impressive. It was in negative-59.
