As many as 8,42,350 students from indian southern states of  Tamil Nadu and Puducherry appeared for the SSLC exams this year. 4,16,512 were male students  and 4,25,838 female .

A total of 1,16,787 students appeared for the board exams from the Matriculation stream.

From the Anglo-Indian stream, 4,697 students appeared; 1,361 students from across the state appeared for the OSLC exams.

Inter Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the names of the cricket officials for the upcoming Four Nation 20/20 (Twenty20) 2008 tournament in Canada. The tournament involves four teams including host Canada, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. English umpire Mark Benson and Canadian umpire Karran Bayney will officiate the match on the filed, while Jeff Crowe, former captain of New Zealand team, has been appointed as the match referee.

The tournament will kick off from 10 October. All of the eight matches will take place at the Maple Leaf North-West Ground, King City, Canada. The four teams will face each other once in the group stage in a round robin league system. Two teams with highest points will face in the final, while the other two teams will fight for the third place in a 3^rd place playoff match.
