In order to get the customers in the upcoming holiday shopping season in Japan, Microsoft is going to offer price cuts over its Xbox 360 products.

In a media event held in Tokyo, Microsoft announced to cut down 30% of its Xbox 360 retail prices. In this process, the company will be able to compete with its Japanese rivals Nintendo and Sony. The new price has been introduced from September 1, 2008.

Under this new pricing, currently, Japanese gamers will be able to buy the introductory level Xbox 360 Arcade model at a rate of 19,800 yen ($183). This is much less compared to Nintendo Wii or PlayStation 3.

Market analysts are already saying that by going below $200 Xbox 360 has become an attractive offer to the consumers and if Microsoft goes below the current price, then the product is open to the mass market.

On the other hand, Microsoft's Japan branch announced that the high end model such as Xbox 360 with 120 GB hard drive will be sold at 39,800 yen ($368). The company is also planning to launch a new model with 60 GB drive which will be priced $275 or 29800 yen.
